Bigfoot vs Zombies

Bigfoot, what's not to love. I'm from the Midwest and believe it or not we still have sightings of the giant beast. In fact we had one about a year ago that for some reason made the news. More so for a laugh, I hope. So even though it was revealed Mr Foot was a giant hoax that doesn't make him any less fun a fictional character.

Zombies, what's not to like there? Slow dead people who eat brains. Those have not yet proven to be a hoax however so be vigilant

Mad scientists, been around since like forever in films. They always have some scheme and some type of liquid or gas nonsense and are always up to no good.

Throw all this together and you have WildEye Pictures New release Bigfoot vs Zombies.

Simple story, crazy scientist works on a dead farm disposing of body's. That's gotta be boring. The more you get rid of the more you get paid. So he makes a serum that's toys them faster, unfortunately the side effect is they become,zombies.

So we have a group of people are now trapped with hordes of zombies coming after them. Thank God Bigfoot is in the area, because he helps to destroy,these zombies.

Plot twists? Nope. Meaningful dialog? Nope. Fun and gory? Yup!

If you like monster movies like I do, and you dig zombie films this is a solid film. Funny, bloody, and surprisingly pretty well acted.  I would recommend you pick this up. Its pretty good fun.

Die Fighting

I don't think I've ever started a review like this but Holy Shit! Im sorry, but this hybrid martial arts film is jaw dropping.

Die Fighting is the story of The Z Team a group of martial artists who set there sights on Hollywood. They get a casting call so to speak from a mysterious director. Only problem, he's got a strange vision and a horrible way of motivating actors.

He kidnaps our heroes wife and forces them to rob an armoured car then do battle with various thugs and martial artists while he video tapes there every move. Think Saw meets Enter the Dragon. In fact that's something said in itself as horror and martial arts don't usually mesh well. 

With the plot out of the way let's dig into the sell point, which is the amazingly choreographed fight sequences. My favorite being a 1 vs an entire dojo. And Didier Buson vs Xin Sarith Wuku is definitely a fight of the year. This is choreography that would make Jackie Chan proud. It's amazing. The launching ax kick that Lohan Buson pulls of is one of the most jaw dropping kicks I've ever seen on film.

The cinematography is fantastic and every motion is captured beautifully to fully give the viewer the ultimate experience when watching the action scenes. A great score provides a nice backdrop as well. All that plus a little twist at the end provide a high impact thrill ride.

I'm a martial arts film conisour to say the least and I'll be honest is saying the fight scenes in this film rival the ones in The Raid series. You can't go wrong with this one. High flying martial arts violence and the touch of a cat and mouse thriller horror mix add up to a shell of a good time.

Whore

Whore, that's a great name for a movie. It really catches the eye, as does the DVD cover of the woman with Whore carved on her forehead.

Its the story of Ricki, a young married woman who goes out to her fathers old remote cabin in some small backwoods village to finish a book she writing. She's supposed to meet a few other lady's there but I digress

Anyway when her power acts up she calls the local electrician who remembers her from when they were children. They went to the old zoo once. The old zoo, not the new zoo, but the old zoo. Sorry when the opportunity comes for a Police Academy 2 reference you take it. This guy is super creepy, as is his mentally challenged buddy, and there other mouth breather friend.

They decide to grab there camcorder, head back over and rape Ricki over and over again, the carve Whore in her head and leave her half dead and catatonic.

Unfortunately for them she lives and goes on to extract her revenge.

Sound familiar? It should, it's a remake of I Spit on Your Grave. That's not a bad thing thought. It features a very attractive lead, and some very good acting. Be prepared to read subtitles as the film is from Norway. Actually I read its the first exploitation film of its kind to come out of Norway. 

One thing that sets it apart from I Spit is the cinamatography. You see quick camcorder clips from,the killers camera spliced in, and some shots are filmed in black and white to add a more haunting/surreal mood. The score is very haunting and helps,to set the overall tone of horror, despare, and revenge.

It's a very well made film that is worth a,look

All Hell Breaks Loose

All Hell Breaks Loose is an odd combination of film to say the least not saying it's bad, just a weird combo. Take one part biker film, and some exploitaion, throw in a touch of revenge film, and mix in some comedy and you have All Hell Break Loose.

All Hell Breaks Loose is the story of 2 newlyweds, Nick and Bobby Sue. See Nick is the cheapest bastard in the world and after getting hitched he takes he for a romantic drink in a dirty old park. When their having a glass of cheap champagne a biker gang called Satan's Sinners shows up, kills Nick and kidnap Bobby Sue because she's a virgin. They kidnap girls for Satan because God gets all the hot chicks.
So with Nick dead a cowboy, who we all asume is God arrives to bring him back to life to save Bobby Sue and Kill all of Satan's Sinners. There's just a problem, he's a nerd. Every time he tries to extract revenge he gets killed himself. So then cowboy God shows up each time to bring him back to try again.

Its a very weird blend of film. I didn't know going in that it had comedy elements to it so I was left dumbfounded. At first. I had to re watch it again to actually get it so to speak. So knowing that will actually help the viewing. 

The movie looks good, it's a grindhouse tribute so the film is rough and scratched up. The soundtrack matches great, and if your a Jackass fan Danger Ehren is one of the bikers.
So basically if your in the mood for a different type of film check out All Hell Breaks Loose.

Amerikan Holokaust

So what happens when you take the real life story of serial killers Leonard Lake and Charles Ng and combine that with the Sleaze Box? Amerikan Holokaust of course.

Let me start off saying this is not normally a film I would review. Its a found footage film of a group of killers. I've seen a few other films in this vein and they really didn't do much for me. This one however was a bit different.

Amerikan Holokaust is the story of Michale Mashburn, and his buddy Antwan Mercer. There a couple of vets who like to talk about the usuall retoric nonsense, smoke crack, and tortue and kidnap women.

They Have a whole little room/dungeon all set up. They even went the extra mile and got a tri pod for their camera. I should thank them for that as most found footage films are that shakey handheld crap.

They have no end game but a simple plan. Kidnap a girl, sometimes an entire family, torture, degrade, rape, beat, ,and turn them into there own little private slaves. It usually ends with the girl being murdered.

Unlike the previous Sleaze Box film I reviewed, Skumbagz, this has no dark humor. Its not played for laughed in the least. Its twisted, vile, and sick. It has tons of nudity, gore, torture, and extreme violence. This is a hardcore film. And might I add it does not have a predictable ending.

Now in the beginning I stated I don't normally review a film like this. So what makes this different? The level of acting. This is without a shadow of a doubt the best acting I've seen in an independent exploaiation film. Every scene, every piece of dialogue is delivered with power, and presence. You actually believe everything your watching is real footage. It may be some of the best performances from 2 leads in a serial killer film since Henry Portrate of a Serial Killer.

So if you dig the extreme horror films then defiantly pick this up. You won't be disappointed.

$kumbagz

So anyone out there who is an exploitation fan has probably already heard of The Sleaze Box, a company out of Tampa that makes hard exploitation flicks. I've seen there adds, and shirts out there for a while, but had never sat down and watched one of the films. Well that changed the other day when I watched $kumbagz. Yea it's spelled that way. And I must say I think I just found my go to source for old school exploitation.

$kumbagz is the story of Stephanie a rather naive girl who is basically a slacker. Her dad belittles her for not amounting to anything, being in her 20s and still living at home. She can't keep a job either. In fact when we see her at work she gets fired by her pervert boss.

With no car, no cell phone, and no cash she's just sitting aimlessly against a wall when a kind passer by offers her a ride. he also asks if she wants to come to his house, clean up, and have a drink.
Well once there he drugs her, abuses her mentally and physically and makes her his own private prostitute. He ever makes a nice amount of cash off her.

Due to a set of circumstances that I won't spoil Stephanie ends up changing pumps and getting caught up in a drug dealing human trafficking gang war.

The film is an,exploitation masterpiece to say the least. Violence, gore, tons and tons of nudity, and some really nice throw back strobe light scenes that hearken back to the old 70s Drive In style. The acting is good, as well as the script. I also enjoyed the ending tremendously as it was one I dint see coming

I enjoyed the ending tremendously as it was not something I expected.
Another thing that The Sleaze Box was able to pull off was the humor. Usually any humor in these types of films are unintentional but not in $kumbagz. Its hard to mix violence, sex, and Gore with dark humor but this one has it blended together perfectly.

If your looking for a good old fashioned exploitation sleaze fest look no further than $kumbagz
